Before the water ever hits the stones, there’s smoke.
The bowl is lit, and the aufguss master moves it through the room with the fan — over each guest, one at a time, so the scent reaches you directly instead of just hanging in the air.
Essential oils are mixed into the water and poured over the stones, and the steam is moved with a towel and a fan so the heat and the scent reach everyone in waves. Each round has its own oil, its own rhythm, its own intensity.
You don’t sit through it. You’re taken through it.
